Grants Go to Holy Cross, Home Missions and Clergy in Need

Christ The Savior Church In Brookville, FL

The Leadership 100 Grant Fund, under the chairmanship of Charles H. Cotros, which has raised $1,071,350 in cash and pledges from Leadership 100 members in the face of the economic downturn, has distributed $500,000 million to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology to continue support of scholarships for seminarians studying for the priesthood. Another $500,000 will go to the school in August. In addition $20,000 has been given to the Home Missions Program of the Department of Outreach and Evangelism of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese to supplement salaries of priests serving in struggling parishes across the country and $6,600 to Retired Clergy and Presvyteras in need.  Since its beginning 25 years ago, Leadership 100 has supported the Home Missions Program with more than $1 million in grants.
The special Leadership 100 Grant Fund was formed by the Executive Committee in October of 2008 to continue its grant program until such time as the earnings from the Endowment Fund allow the organization to resume grant distributions.
Stephen G. Yeonas, Chairman of Leadership 100, said, “We must meet the most critical needs of our Church in these critical times, insuring that we have priests to serve the faithful, support struggling parishes and assist Clergy and Presvyteras who are in need in acknowledgement of their dedicated service over the years.”
