Finding Faith in Iconography: Documentary PISTEVO “I believe” Chronicles a Sacred Journey

The following excerpts are from an article written by Eleni Kostopoulos for the July issue of NEO Magazine. Michael Psaros and his wife, Robin are members of Leadership 100.

When Mike Psaros, co-founder and managing partner of KPS Capital Partners in New York City, was named Executive of the Year by The Hellenic American Bankers Association (HABA) last May, he was asked to provide a biopic to be presented at the award ceremony. As a shrewd businessman with a keen eye for talent, Psaros selected a seasoned professional to undertake this task; MiB Mediaworks founder Mark I. Brodie, an Emmy-winning editor and documentary filmmaker with more than 30 years of experience working for national and international broadcasts, was an obvious choice.

Membership Event Held In Detroit

On June 18, 2015, a Leadership 100 Informational Dinner was held at the prestigious Detroit Athletic Club in Detroit, Michigan. Among the 25 distinguished guests were clergy and Leadership 100 members.

The event was coordinated by Theodore K. Zampetis, Host and Executive Committee Member, Thomas G. Jordan, Treasurer and Executive Committee Member and Lou Kircos, Audit Committee Member and Master of Ceremonies.

His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas expressed his enthusiasm and gratitude to Leadership 100 for its support to the National Ministries, Metropolises, Clergy and the Theological School.

Greek Reporter featured the philanthropy of George D. Behrakis, Chairman Emeritus of Leadership 100, in a video on their website titled “The Strategy of Philanthropy: George D. Behrakis”.

Arthur C. Anton, Sr.

Arthur C. Anton Sr. Gives Commencement Address

Arthur C. Anton, Sr., a Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Leadership 100, gave the Commencement Address at Lowell High School in Lowell, MA, on June 3, 2015, where he had graduated as class valedictorian in 1943.

Celebrated for his business leadership in having turned Anton’s Cleaners, the dry-cleaning business started by his father, into the largest operation of its kind in New England, he is a renowned philanthropist. He created initiatives such as Coats for Kids, which has collected, cleaned and distributed some 800,000 coats and Belle of the Ball, a prom-dress drive that distributes dresses to students for their proms.

Dennis Mehiel Presented with Holy Trinity Award

Dennis Mehiel, a prominent New York business and civic leader and a long-time member of Leadership 100, was presented with the Holy Trinity Award at the 80th Archdiocesan Cathedral Gala at Guastavino’s on E. 59th St. in New York City on June 5, 2015. After an introduction by John Catsimatidis, member of the Executive Committee of Leadership 100, Mehiel was presented with the award by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, V. Rev.Fr. John Vlahos, Dean of the Cathedral, and Dean Poll, President of the Cathedral Board. Leadership 100 members Stella Pantelidis and Justin Bozonelis served as co-chairs.

Leadership 100 Members Awarded Ellis Island Medals of Honor

Ellis Island Medals of Honor were awarded to Theodore K. Zampetis of Bloomfield Hills, MI, a member of the Leadership 100 Executive Committee and Chairman of both the Membership Committee and Leadership 100 Sunday, and Nikiforos Valaskantjis of San Clemente, CA, a Leadership 100 member, in ceremonies on May 9, 2015 on Ellis Island.

Zampetis, retired president of Shiloh Industries, a supplier to automakers in North America, was instrumental in developing global expansion strategies with key automotive and appliance markets for the company, as well as maintaining relationships with business leaders throughout the world. He is Chairman of the Board of the TK Zampetis Family Foundation and an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Order of Saint Andrew.

Drake Behrakis Honored by Boston College

Drake G. Behrakis, a member of the Leadership 100 Board of Trustees and a 1986 graduate of Boston College, was presented with the William V. McKenney Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Alumni Association of the University, at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel on June 4, 2015.

Behrakis was one of six recipients at a ceremony led by William P. Leahy, S.J., Boston College President and the Board of Trustees and Alumni Association.

Created in 1936 and named in honor of its first recipient, the William V. McKenney Award recognizes a Boston College graduate “whose outstanding service to a chosen profession, community or cause reflects honor on the University.”

Online Ministry Video Series

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Department of Administration, in cooperation with GOTelecom, has produced a series of videos highlighting the work of several ministries and departments with a grant of $109,085 from Leadership 100.

The 2–to 3–minute videos feature presentations by directors of each ministry describing the projects, resources and work of the Archdiocese departments, including Orthodox Observer, Communications, GOTelecom, Finance, Greek Education, News and Information, the Chancellery, St. Michael’s Home, Registry, Science and Technology, Internet Ministries and Youth and Young Adult Ministry.
