Leadership 100 installed Argyris “RJ” Vassiliou of Stamford, Connecticut, a business executive and engineer, as Chairman, at the Grand Banquet of its 27th Annual Conference on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami in Key Biscayne, Florida. Leadership 100 Approves $2.7 Million In Grants

The Executive Committee of Leadership 100, meeting on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at the 27th Annual Leadership 100 Conference in Key Biscayne, Florida, unanimously accepted the recommendations of the Leadership 100 Grant Committee, with one addition, and approved a total of $2,668,663 in grants, according to George S. Tsandikos, Chairman.

Hellenic American Academy Honors George D. Behrakis

The Hellenic American Academy honored George D. Behrakis, noted business leader and philanthropist and Chairman Emeritus of Leadership 100, with the Heritage Award at its 11th Annual Gala on Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Loews Chicago O’Hare.

Behrakis, whose extensive research in the medical and pharmaceutical fields led to the development of asthma and allergy products, founded two successful companies – Dooner Laboratories and Muro Pharmaceutical. He also founded The Behrakis Foundation, along with his wife Margo. His philanthropy, which includes a devotion to Hellenic causes and the Greek Orthodox Church, extends to education, healthcare and the arts.

Leadership 100 Members Create Hellenic Hearts

Hellenic Hearts, a non-profit organization, was created and co-founded by Leadership 100 members John Aivazoglou and Nick Karalis, along with Kostas Mikropoulos and Tim Vlassopoulos, with the intent of supporting Hellenes from the Greater Philadelphia area in extreme financial distress. Its inception was on February 17th, 2016, at John’s 50th birthday party when in lieu of gifts, donations were collected in the amount of $20,000. The momentum continued into the next event, the Annual Golf Invitational and Dinner, which raised more than $85,000. Other Leadership 100 members currently serving on the Board of Directors include Michael Bapis, also a member of the Leadership 100 Board of Trustees, Dimitri Halakos, James Karalis; Peter J. Pappas, of Blessed Memory, who was a long-time member of the Leadership 100 Executive Committee and Board of Trustees, also served on the Hellenic Hearts Board.

New Leadership 100 Member Leads J.P. Morgan's Private Bank Team in New Jersey

Alma DeMetropolis, who joined Leadership 100 in 2017, capped her 25-year career at JPMorgan Chase, by returning to her native New Jersey in November of 2016 as Managing Director and a Senior Investment Specialist for the Tri-State Region of the J.P. Morgan Private Bank. She became President of the New Jersey Market Leadership team and Market Manager for the New Jersey Private Bank.

Currently, she specializes in advising clients on a broad range of wealth matters and managing investment portfolios for U.S. Ultra-High Net Worth individuals, families, endowments and foundations. DeMetropolis joined J.P. Morgan in 1992 and worked 7 years in Europe and Latin America.

Illinois Governor Appoints Anastasia Palivos to Commerce Commission

On Friday, September 8, 2017, members of Leadership 100 met at Citi Field in Queens, New York to watch the New York Mets play the Cincinnati Reds. The informal get-together was organized by Leadership 100 Board of Trustees members Justin Bozonelis, James Pantelidis, Michael Bapis, George Soterakis and Drake Behrakis. Attended by over 25 friends and family participants across all ages, the event served as a reunion for local Leadership 100 members as well as time spent with invitees interested in the organization. The group plans to organize future events aimed at celebrating the friendships made through Leadership 100.
