Leadership 100 will celebrate the 35th Anniversary of its founding at its  28th Annual Leadership 100 Conference, February 21-24, 2019, at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Florida. Speakers include George Veras, Chief Operating Officer & Executive Producer of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, a 10-time National Sports Emmy Award winner and Producer of seven Olympics, Stellene Volandes, Editor in Chief of Town and Country Magazine, and our own Chairman Emeritus George D. Behrakis who will moderate a panel of renowned medical specialists on the subject of “Health and Wellness: Improving our Quality of Life”.  

A Celebration 35 Concert, produced by Aphrodite Daniel, Director of SynPhonia Entertainment, Inc. will feature  renowned Greek singer, Giorgos Lianos. read more

Executive Committee and Board of Trustees Meet, Membership Event Held

His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios Addresses Executive Committee.

The Leadership 100 Executive Committee and Board of Trustees met on Thursday, November 8th and Friday, November  9th,  2018, respectively, at The Princeton Club of New York, presided over for the first time by Argyris Vassiliou as Chairman. On Thursday evening, A Membership Event was held at the Metropolitan Club at which 70 members and potential members gathered.

Vassiliou reported to both the Executive Committee and Board that Leadership 100 continues to grow in membership and financial assets, as well as in recognition in our community and society. To date, membership stands at 1,088, with 643 members fulfilled, and has raised $1,401,000 in membership contributions (cash basis) this year, as of September 30, 2018 .The investment portfolio has a value of $89,963,570, also as of September 30, 2018, with total assets at $102,252,000. Grants distributed since the founding of Leadership 100 in 1984 reached $51,044,495, with $2,986,163 distributed for 2018. Further, he reported that the 28th Annual Conference in February of 2019 will mark the 35th Anniversary of Leadership 100. read more

Archbishop Demetrios Honored at Chrysanthemum Ball

The Archdiocesan Cathedral Philoptochos Society honored His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Geron of America at their Annual Chrysanthemum Ball on November 16, 2018, at the Metropolitan Club in New York City.

Following the invocation by His Eminence, the evening’s co-chairs Carol Contos and Lillian Johnson welcomed the participants. The Dean of the Holy Trinity Archdiocesan Cathedral, Fr. John Vlahos, in his greeting spoke warmly about Archbishop Demetrios, noting his long service to the Church, his 51 years as a Bishop, “the longest service of any Bishop in the Orthodox Church.” He said that even though the Archbishop is known around the world as a highly respected theologian and scholar, we know him as a pastor, as a leader, a father and a shepherd. “He brought to us the love and the living presence of Christ,” he continued, “and for this pastoral care for the past 19 years we honor you today.” read more

Hellenic Public Radio - "Cosmos FM 91.5" honored Michael G. Psaros, a member of the Leadership 100 Board of Trustees and  co-founder of KPS Capital Partners, LP, with its 2018 Phidippides Award at their 22nd Annual Gala held on Saturday, November 3rd at the Terrace on the Park in Flushing, New York.

In his acceptance speech, Psaros thanked the Board of Directors of  the Greek American Educational Public Information System (GAEPIS), the station’s parent organization for this recognition, saying that "Cosmos FM has been a part of my family since 1989.”

"This honor belongs to my parents, George and Mary Ann and Robin, my wife of almost 25 years. My parents are the reason I have dedicated a life of service to serve our Church, Hellenism, and the Omogenia.” He thanked his wife "for allowing our family to devote the time and resources to serve our Church and the many Hellenic causes we are committed to, often at great sacrifice to our family.” read more

The Action and Educational Forum Against Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery was held on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church in Pasadena, California with the blessings of His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and with the support of His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco. Leading the effort was His Eminence Metropolitan Nikitas of the Dardanelles, Coordinator of the Patriarchal Task Force on Modern Slavery. Both Metropolitan Gerasimos and Metropolitan Nikitas are members of Leadership 100.

This event drew 300 Pan Orthodox and concerned citizens who had the opportunity to learn from professionals who are working to prevent and combat human trafficking and modern slavery, and to rescue and protect its victims. The Forum went beyond discussions and issued a call to action to both individuals and organizations to make a difference in helping to address and eradicate this terrible plight befalling so many innocent people. read more

On November 11th, 2018, Lee Ann and George Anderson, members of Leadership 100, completed The Authentic Athens Marathon. The couple power-walked the 26.2-mile course originally run by Pheidippides to announce the victory of the Battle of Marathon to the Athenians. Lee Ann and George were part of a group of friends that participated in the Marathon to support and raise funds for the Benaki Museum in Athens. read more
