Leadership 100 Celebrates 30th Anniversary at Conference

The Archbishop Iakovos Leadership 100 Endowment Fund marked its 30th Anniversary at its 23rd Annual Conference, February 13-16, 2014 at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples in Naples, Florida. Some 400 members and their guests attended, according to Charles H. Cotros, the outgoing Chairman, who passed the torch of his office to George S. Tsandikos, Vice Chairman, at the Grand Gala on Saturday, February 16. The event featured a special message from His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who commended Leadership 100 for its 30 years of service to the Church and acknowledged His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios for his 15 years of service as Archbishop of America. The Archbishop was presented with a crystal encased replica of the design for St. Nicholas Church, which is to be built overlooking the September 11 memorial in Lower Manhattan. read more

George S. Tsandikos of   New York, New York was inaugurated as the Chairman of Leadership 100 on February 15, 2014 at the Grand Gala of the 23rd Annual Leadership 100 Conference at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples in Naples, Florida. He served as Vice Chairman for the past two years under Charles H. Cotros, of Memphis, Tennessee, whose term was completed as Chairman but who remains a member of the Executive Committee. read more
Leadership 100 Grants Exceed $38 Million, Assets Exceed $82 Million, Membership at 935

The Executive Committee convening at the 23rd Annual Leadership 100 Conference at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, Naples, Florida approved $2,453,833.50 in new grants and prior commitments for 2014, based on the recommendations of the Grant Committee, Chaired by John Sitilides. This brought the total of grants distributed by Leadership 100 since its inception to $38,054,512. In addition, Peter Vlachos, Chairman of the Investment Committee, reported to the Executive Committee, Board of Trustees and General Assembly that in the year ended December 31, 2013 the Leadership 100 Endowment Fund rose 11.29% to $82,717,395 from previous year-end value of $75,448,411, while Paulette Poulos, Executive Director, reported to all three bodies that membership had increased to 935.  read more

American Hellenic Institute Honors Paulette Poulos

The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) honored Paulette Poulos, Executive Director of Leadership 100, with the Hellenic Heritage National Public Service Award, at the 39th Anniversary Hellenic Heritage Achievement and National Public Service Awards Dinner on March 8 at The Capitol Hilton in Washington, DC. She was cited for her exemplary service to the Orthodox Church and her decades of leadership and advocacy for Hellenism. George S. Tsandikos, the newly installed Chairman of Leadership 100 attended as his first public event to demonstrate the support of all Leadership 100 members. read more

Niarchos Foundation Brings Philanthropy Home

In a wide-ranging address at the Hellenism Forum, Thursday, February 13, 2014, at the 23rd Annual Leadership 100 Conference, Vasili Tsamis, Chief Operating Officer and Co-Chief Investment Officer of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, reminded his audience of the Greek roots of the concept of philanthropy. He described how the Foundation, in carrying out the legacy of Stavros Niarchos, strove to create a new model true to that concept in its philanthropic activities in Greece and around the world. The Niarchos Foundation was presented with the Archbishop Iakovos Leadership 100 Award for Excellence for its contributions. read more

Seleni Institute Meets Challenges

Seleni Institute of New York, along with its co-founder and Executive Chairwoman, Nitzia Logothetis, was presented with the Archbishop Iakovos Leadership 100 Award for Excellence at the Saturday Forum on February 15, 2014, at the 23rd Annual Leadership 100 Conference, for its innovative work in creating a new modality for the treatment of women and their families. Founded in 2011 by Logothetis with her husband, George M. Logothetis, Chairman and CEO of the Libra Group, the Institute was named for Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon and Eleni, the heroic main character in the book of that name by Nicholas Gage, combining the concepts of emotion and bravery, according to Logothetis. read more

New Co-Chairmen for Leadership 100 Partners

The Archbishop Iakovos Leadership 100 Endowment Fund, Inc. named Justin K. Bozonelis and George T. Soterakis as new Co-Chairmen of the Leadership 100 Partners Program. They will succeed Michael N. Bapis, a member of the Leadership 100 Board of Trustees, who completed a successful seven-year tenure. Bapis helped to inaugurate the program in 2007 and guided its growth to 118 paid members. Bozonelis, 38, of New York, NY, is a Director at Cantor Fitzgerald. He has served on both the Grant Committee of Leadership 100 and the Leadership 100 Partners Advisory Council for the past 3 years and was recently elected to the Leadership 100 Board of Trustees. He also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Holy Trinity Archdiocesan Cathedral. Soterakis, 35, of Greenwich, CT, is an attorney and Citigroup's Ethics Officer for Mexico and Latin America.  He has also served on the Leadership 100 Partners Advisory Council for the past three years. Soterakis, and his wife, Demetra, and their children are members of the Greek Orthodox Church of Our Saviour in Rye, New York. Both Bozonelis and Soterakis have helped spearhead new media initiatives aimed at expanding Leadership 100 Partner participation and membership.  read more

Inaugurated in 2007, today 118 members are now Leadership 100 Partners or Leadership 100 Junior Partners (ages up to 21). Leadership 100 Partners actively participate in the Leadership 100 Annual Leadership 100 Conferences, where prominent leaders of the Greek American Community address their concerns as aspiring leaders. In addition, social gatherings are held at a unique location in the host city of the 100 Conference and other social, cultural and professional gatherings are held across the country each year.
