Leadership 100 Conference Commemorates the 100th Anniversary of Greek Orthodox Archdiocese

The 31st Annual Leadership 100 Conference will convene February 10-13, 2022, at The Ritz-Carlton Naples in Naples, Florida. Argyris Vassiliou, Chairman of Leadership 100, announced that this year’s conference will be dedicated to the Centennial of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Vassiliou stated, “We are honored to begin the Centennial celebrations with our Thursday Forum speakers who will reflect on the history and progress of our Archdiocese.”

His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America will share his thoughts and visions for the Archdiocese and the Church in America and worldwide.

The Conference speakers are Dr. Alexander Kitroeff, Professor, Department of History, Haverford College, on the history of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America; George Yancopoulos, MD, PhD, President and Chief Scientific Officer at Regeneron and Christos Kyratsous, PhD, Vice President of Research, Infectious Diseases and Viral Vector Technologies at Regeneron, on their pioneering research to combat Covid-19; Dr. Lisa Liberatore and Dr. Dimitri Kessaris, founders of two nonprofit organizations, Luv Michael and US Autism Homes, along with Mark Biondi Program Director of both organizations; His Grace Bishop Andonios, on plans for the new St. Michael’s Home; Theo Nicolakis, Director of Information Technologies at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, on the modernization of the Archdiocese Technology; and Rev. Fr. Gary Kyriacou, Director of Ionian Village, on plans for its transformations. read more

National Centennial Committee Develops Plans

Leadership 100 Chairman Argyris Vassiliou, in his capacity as Chairman of the National Centennial Committee, opened  remote planning meetings of the Committee on December 8 and 16. His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros appointed him to be Chairman of the National Centennial Committee, which was  established to coordinate events in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Archdiocese in 2022. The Archbishop asked each of the Metropolitans to nominate two representatives, including a cleric and a layperson for their Metropolis. read more

Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Distributes Funds to those Affected by Fires in Greece

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America announced the distribution of more than one million dollars to aid those affected by the catastrophic fires in Greece this past summer. Under the leadership of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, a delegation, consisting of His Grace Bishop Apostolos of Medeia, Treasurer of the Archdiocesan Council, Elaine Allen, and the 2nd Vice President of the National Philoptochos, Anita Kartalopoulos, visited the affected areas to determine the best way to help. The delegation is working with International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) in the United States and its representatives in Greece.

The Archdiocese delegation was received by His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece on December 9th, and later the same day met with the Deputy Prefect of Evia, George Kelaiditis, who provided them with a list of local companies and individuals in Northern Evia who were directly affected by the fires. read more

The CrossRoad Summer Institute Expands to San Francisco


The CrossRoad Summer Institute

CrossRoad announced its planned expansion to the West Coast in the summer of 2022. Through the leadership of His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco and the generosity of The George and Judy Marcus Family Foundation, CrossRoad will host one of its three sessions in San Francisco, California.

The Cross Road Summer Institute is a 10-day summer program inviting high school juniors and seniors to “explore their faith like never before.” Since its inception in 2004, CrossRoad has seen growth in the number of young people applying to participate. In 2008, due to overwhelming interest, CrossRoad added a second session. Since this expansion, interest in CrossRoad has continued to rise and over the years CrossRoad has received requests to bring the program to other metropolitan areas. To broaden its reach and impact,  it piloted a successful expansion by launching CrossRoad Chicago in 2018. read more

Orthodox Volunteer Corps


In September 2019, the Department of Inter-Orthodox, Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America convened a pan-Orthodox, national gathering to address the crisis of homelessness. Many of those present discovered that they shared a related interest: The need for an Orthodox Christian volunteer corps. In response, the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America commissioned a task force to explore such an initiative. read more
