National Leadership 100 Sunday was observed across the country for the ninth year on October 15, 2017. The celebration is held on a Sunday near to the Feast of Saint Iakovos in honor of the Founder of Leadership 100, Archbishop Iakovos of Blessed Memory.

The Leadership 100 Executive Committee on September 5, 2017 unanimously approved emergency assistance to International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) for the Emergency Response Fund for Hurricanes with a grant of $100,000, in response to an appeal from His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Geron of America, which initially addressed Hurricane Harvey, but was extended to include Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

The Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle honored Archon John A. Catsimatidis, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and Chairman of the Red Apple Group, with the 2017 Nicholas J. Bouras Award for Extraordinary Archon Stewardship on October 20, 2017 at the Metropolitan Club in New York.

Peter Vlachos, a longtime member of the Leadership 100 Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Investment Committee, was presented with the 2017 Jaharis Service Award during the 7th Annual Oxi Day Celebration in Washington, DC at the National World War II Memorial on October 26, 2017.

Eleni Bousis, a member of the Leadership 100 Board of Trustees, hosted the second annual Wings to Cure Gala for the Hippocratic Cancer Research Foundation (HCRF), which she founded and chairs, on Oct. 14. The event attracted more than 600 guests and raised $600,000 at the Hilton Chicago to support innovative cutting-edge cancer research at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.
